Also known as ASL, American sign language is the backbone of the American deaf culture. When deaf and hard of hearing children are exposed to ASL at an early age, they are given the opportunity to maximize their communication skills. Hi Everyone! My name is Sabine and I was born and raised in Switzerland. I grew up speaking 4 languages - German, Swiss German, Hungarian and most importantly, Sign Language. My parents are both deaf and that to me while growing up was not a disability, but an amazing art to communicate with your hands. I have been teaching German for over 14 years now, but I have always wanted to teach Sign Language. Tribeca Language has made it possible for me to do so. People do not realize that the deaf community is an absolutely different culture. Not only do I want to teach the American Sign, but I want to teach my students about the deaf culture as well.
