French I : We will take you through the major present and past tenses and have you speaking independantly the entire time. Using the QTalk Visual Image System in class and via online practice activiteis in between classes, you will become more communciative than you were after your entire high school language experience. All sessions meet once a week for 60 minutes. Complete beginners as well as those who have had some exposure but need a refresher before moving forward to more complex grammar are welcome. The French I Workshop will take you through conversation basics that cover the vocabulary necessary to breeze through what we like to call “Cocktail Mixer Talk." You will be able to talk about your life and the lives of people you know and love – your job, home life, love life, hobbies, preferences and routines.
French II : Continue your journey into the more complex tenses and add hundreds of words to your French I vocabulary. If you would describe your level as already being able to construct sentences in the present and past tenses using verb + verb infinitive (Example, Je ne peux pas aller à la plage. Je suis allez au magasin mais c'était fermé), this is the course for you. We like to say French 2 is about speaking real French - street French, expressions, etc. Prerequisite: French I or passing phone interview
French III : Conversation Practice using multimedia sources of inspiration - what is happening in world politics, fashion, entertainment, etc. French III Classes are self-contained, meaning if you miss one, you do not need to do any kind of make up.
We will round out the building of your essential conversation vocabulary for home, work, travel and play. Depending on the skill of the students, this class will expand into the use of multimedia, the discussion of current events and literature. Prerequisite: French II or passing phone interview
